Maria W Horn will also be performing “CD/cyanide” and “Fall of O’Dea” during the satellite slot from Stockholm. Maria W Horn is a composer and producer of electronic music and experimental film. Incorporating sound, video and light, Maria’s audiovisual performances are characterised by slowly changing, layered synthesis and a pulsating, hypnotic atmosphere. After completing her studies in electroacoustic composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Universität der Kunst in Berlin she is currently based in Stockholm. She is an integral part of New Music in Sweden through her involvement in Fylkingen, cassette label XKatedral as well as Sthlm Drone Society – an association working to promote slow and gradually evolving timbral music. At this years edition of Art’s Birthday Party she will premiere an audiovisual piece incorporating stroboscope and manipulated Super 8 footage called “Deserted, but not uninhabited”, which is commissioned by the Swedish Radio.
