“Liquidation” by wechselstrom
makes the radio sound fluid by passing all streams through water.
The movements of the water causes voltage differences, which modulate the sound.
Within the disposition of pre-set setups, dizzyingly fast, at the same time finely tuned and sometimes chaotic sound sequences emerge.
“wechselstrom” founded in 2004 by Christoph Theiler and Renate Pittroff is located in the 16th district of Vienna. They run the off-space “gallery wechselstrom” as a work space and temporary exhibition and performance space. In addition to works for theatrical and radio plays, wechselstrom is active in interdisciplinary areas of sound installation, media art and social sculpture.
Since their beginnings, the artist duo has often dealt with edge areas of art at the border to sociology communication science technology medie activism, andall art forms on the fringe of culture.
