Ninety nine years ago, Venezuela adopts the decimal metric system; eighty one years ago the River Thames freezes; fifty two years ago The Beatles release Yellow Submarine; four hundred years ago Calderón de la Barca is born; one hundred and one years ago the Prohibition begins in the United States of America; two hundred and thirty seven years ago date stamps for letters are introduced in Madrid; one hundred and twenty two years ago Al Capone is born; one hundred and nine years ago Robert Falcon Scott reaches the South Pole; one thousand six hundred sixty five years ago Anthony the Great passes away; eighty three years ago the first International Surrealist Exhibition takes place in Paris.
I am not very prone to celebrations. But, what the heck, a day is a day!
