Art’s Birthday Conduction
Art’s Birthday Conduction. Artists using the web platform Mezcal will celebrate the 1 000 060th Art’s Birthday at Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears in New York’s Upper Hudson Valley, Ö1 Kunstradio ORF in Vienna, Austria, CITR FM in Vancouver, Canada and at Radio CASo in Argentina.
Celebrating Art’s Birthday is a tradition started by French Fluxus artist Robert Filliou who declared, on January 17th 1963, that Art had been born exactly 1,000,000 years ago when somebody dropped a dry sponge into a bucket of water. Throughout the last decades artists continued organising annual celebrations in the spirit of Filliou’s “Eternal Network” or “La Fête permanente”.
The Conduction Series is a collaborative live radio broadcast produced by a group of sound, radio and transmission artists across the Americas on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears in New York’s Upper Hudson Valley. The group comes together on the first Friday of every month at 4:10pm ET using the web platform Mezcal. Emphasizing LIVE interactivity and media archaeological methods, the series explores themes of migration, feedback, user participation, low-key and on-site interaction with mobile devices, and remote collaboration.
